GAP were shortlisted in the Green Awards 2017 as Green NGO of the Year! The Green Awards are the long-standing benchmark for excellence for those demonstrating best green practice in Ireland, and it was inspiring to see such diversity across industries and businesses staving for sustainability.
In the words of cultural anthropologist Margaret Meade, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
The Green Awards represent the most passionate and proactive individuals and businesses in Ireland, working together, to protect our natural heritage, to encourage biodiversity and educate our younger generations about the importance of conservation.
One of the first challenges in integrating sustainability throughout the business is organisation-wide buy-in and commitment. Aligning Sustainability Strategy with business strategy is key. All social and environmental efforts must not only service the company but empower and impact the community in which it operates. Corporate sustainability is about the business, but also their responsibility to not only respond strategically to environmental problems but societal concerns as well.
“Green business today is just business.”
And next the GAP team are looking forward to the Thought Leaders Panel on Tuesday, March 21st which will be an interactive discussion about the trends and issues affecting the Irish Green Sector.
