Ballymun is Brilliant logo

The “Ballymun Is Brilliant” project, funded by the Government’s Creative Climate Action Fund, marks a significant partnership between three organisations with strong roots in Ballymun: Axis Theatre, Global Action Plan and the Rediscovery Centre. The project will run until the end of 2025

The three organisations will be working together in a celebration of the creativity of Ballymun’s residents and vibrant community groups. By highlighting the many citizen initiatives already underway in the community, “Ballymun Is Brilliant” wants to inspire more people to get involved and build a better Ballymun for all.

Ballymun and Climate Action

Ballymun, designated as a ‘Decarbonisation Zone’ under the Government’s Climate Action Plans, can play an important role in addressing climate challenges, locally and nationally. By promoting greater public awareness and readiness for collective action, the three project partners hope to give everyone in Ballymun a chance to have their say on what that role could be.

By using art, and working with renowned artists, the project hopes to give people a broad range of ways to express their views. The project invites active participation from Ballymun residents, encouraging them to share their insights and ideas for confronting climate change and biodiversity loss head-on.

Celebrating local creativity and ideas

The three organisations will be working together in a celebration of the creativity of Ballymun’s residents and vibrant community groups.

By highlighting the many citizen initiatives already underway in the community, ‘Ballymun Is Brilliant’ wants to inspire more people to get involved and build a better Ballymun for all. Art is a powerful tool to let people express themselves. We want to capture the ideas, emotions and concerns of the people in Ballymun, in a way that is meaningful and participatory.

By exploring the priorities of our community, we want to understand how people think about fairness and climate justice, and discover ways in which we can support local initiatives. Art and artists allow us to include people who are often overlooked in policy making processes
