It’s Day Three of Global Action Plan’s Sustainable Christmas programme, and today we are discussing some tips and tricks on how to travel around this Christmas season in the most eco-friendly way possible.
-
- It is most optimal to travel to and from family festivities via public transport or carpooling – which comes with the added bonus of some company on your travels. Sharing the journey also ensures that you don’t have to deal with issues of parking, and additional associated costs.
-
- If you need to use a car to get around, ensuring that your car is “winter ready” is an important part of your energy efficiency. This also heightens your level of safety when traveling around in wintery weather! In particular, checking your “tyre tread [and] inflation pressure, using high gears safely, [and] not leaving the car idling in long queues,” are each crucial elements to guaranteeing lower carbon emissions.
-
- Something as simple as traveling outside of peak hours will secure you with a more planet-friendly travel plan. In doing so, you’ll (1) cut down the amount of time it takes you to get to your destination, and (2) make sure you waste less fuel on the journey!
Slight alterations to your transportation this Christmas will directly lead to lower costs from your holiday festivities, and will allow you to spend more time and money on the things that matter the most!
