As we enter Day Six of the Sustainable Christmas programme, the ‘big day’ is hot on our tails! Therefore, Global Action Plan thought we’d investigate the best possible Christmas decorations to use during the festive season.
- Firstly, simply pop your Christmas decorations on a timer this year – we all forget to turn off the lights every once and a while!
- Secondly, switch to LED Christmas lights if possible. They are far more energy efficient and “can save up to 90% of lighting energy costs,” on your bills!
- Thirdly, buying eco-friendly Christmas crackers is a novel and effective way to reduce your carbon footprint. Nowadays, these items have become increasingly available and (1) commonly are made from beautiful natural materials, and/or (2) allow you to pop your own gifts into them to personalise your crackers!
