Lee Geoghegan

Lee holds an Honours Bachelor Degree in Horticulture. He has had a strong affinity with nature and wildlife from a really young age, nature walks and observing wildlife are among his favourite pastimes.

Lee has a real passion for growing organically. In addition to being a gardener for Global Action Plan he has also obtained an allotment site which he and his family have managed to develop into a haven of organic produce. Working at the garden has allowed them to really bond as a family, enhancing their overall wellbeing whilst also reaping the fruits of their labour, it has truly been a rewarding journey.

Lee is very focused on the environment and sustainability and really strives to incorporate these ideas into his everyday life where possible, he believes that small changes within the home can be hugely significant, and if an educated population can all pull together and make similar subtle changes to their everyday lives there is no end to what we can achieve, particularly regarding waste reduction as well as our overall carbon footprint.

He is eager to compost as much as possible domestically and gets great satisfaction to then use the finished product to help power his garden. He also considers wisely what will end up in landfill and tries to recycle and reuse wherever possible.

Lee is currently the Garden Manager for the new Green Living and Sustainability Garden at TU Dublin in Blanchardstown.

His role includes: Supporting volunteers from the local community as well as corporate volunteers who contribute to the development of the garden, while also delivering environmental, sustainability and horticultural workshops each week. He is also tasked with networking with local schools and community groups and enticing them to visit the garden to take part in various workshops that he delivers on themes such as Sustainability, Waste Reduction, Composting and General Horticulture.

Lee has been a solid part of the local community of Dublin 15 for many years. He has assisted in the local primary school and church with various horticulturally related projects.

He has also been a pivotal part of the local community centre and has engaged with people of all ages in a wide variety of local projects.
He has experience working within the grounds of Áras An Uachtaráin growing a wide variety of organic produce whilst also engaging with visitors and undertaking a vast array of horticultural activities.

Lee also has experience working alongside Fingal Co Council within the 200 year old Shackleton walled garden which is located in Clonsilla, Dublin 15.
