3. Global Citizenship programmes

A hands-on learning journey helping students and groups explore climate justice, inequality, and the power of collective action.
GAP’s school programmes make complex global topics engaging and accessible through interactive activities. By working together, students learn that collective action can influence both their school environment and the wider world.

4. Outdoor Education: GAP’s Nature Explorer for Schools programme

Give your pupils the chance to step outside the classroom and discover nature first-hand.

Nature Explorer for Schools is an 8-week outdoor learning programme that takes place in school gardens, local parks or nearby green spaces. Through play, exploration and creative activities, children build a real connection with the natural world while having fun together.

The programme helps children enjoy being in nature, and being with each other, and learn how all living things are connected. Inspired by behavioural science and evidence that feeling part of nature increases the likelihood that people become caring global citizens and advocates for protecting the natural world.

Each week, pupils:

  • Explore local plants, insects, birds and animals

  • Learn about life cycles and food webs

  • Create nature-inspired art and stories

  • Try hands-on activities like planting, scavenger hunts and team games

Our approach is inspired by the Forest School ethos and supports many areas of the curriculum, including English, Gaeilge, Geography, Science, Maths, SPHE, Art, Music, PE and Drama.

By the end of the programme, pupils gain:

  • A deeper understanding of biodiversity and why it matters

  • A sense of care and responsibility for their local environment

  • Opportunities to collaborate, play, and connect with each other in meaningful ways

Our schools programme is funded through the generous support of Dublin City Council’s Ballymun Social Regeneration Fund, Worldwise Global Schools, the Department of Education, Erasmus+ as well as our Premium Education Sponsors:  HSBC and McCann Fitzgerald.
