After winning the regional heat, GAP recently won the Best Sustainability Initiative at the Dublin City Neighbourhoods Awards.
Sharon and Aoife were there to accept the award, and the team are delighted!
Dublin City Neighbourhoods:
The Dublin City Neighbourhoods Competition is an annual competition for communities, schools and businesses organised by Dublin City Council. The best entrants from each of the 5 City Council Areas are selected to go forward to a citywide competition.
Applications are invited under residential, special, business and schools categories.
“It is the existence of an effective and enthusiastic City Neighbourhoods Committee that improves our local areas and the quality of life of the residents and develops good relationships with the local authority, schools and other business associations” – Dublin City Council.
Green Living Programme:
It was our Green Living Programme that received the award for Best Sustainability Initiative in the business category. This is the GLP’s 2nd award in this competition and a true testament to the impact the programme has delivered.
Green Living, a 4-part sustainable living programme, was delivered 5 times throughout 2015 and as 2 custom workshops, which are highly practical in content, to community groups and local businesses.
Directly working with >130 households this saw savings in energy and water consumption, and waste produced. In 2015 the GLP recorded savings of:
132 m3 waste diverted from landfill
2948 m3 reduced CO2 emissions
5033 m3 reduced CH4 emissions
96873 kWh saved
762508 litres of water saved
18543 € saved
