“Lets Talk Science” is a new festival for the Ballymun community delivered by Global Action Plan Ireland and the Rediscovery Centre with support from Science Foundation Ireland and Dublin City Council.

The aim of this Science Festival is to celebrate and promote the contributions that science makes to society – past, present and future and to encourage and inspire public perceptions of science and technology to make them more accessible for the local community and the general public. This festival will introduce a range of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities into the Ballymun community in a format that will be engaging and accessible both for local residents and the wider community.

This exciting free festival will be a unique opportunity for all ages from 2 to 102! The fantastic programme of events includes free interactive workshops, demonstrations, games and challenges, talks, presentations, exhibition stands, career talks and guided walks. From learning how to engineer the perfect bubble, exploring the biodiversity of a garden, to the science of water and how electricity works, this festival is fun for the whole family.

Science Festivals not only help promote public awareness and interest in science and technology but also help inspire citizens about science; encouraging the next generation of scientists and engineers. This festival will help foster an awareness of the contributions which scientific, technological and environmental endeavours make to society. This project will endeavour to make STEM relevant to the local community by demonstrating how it is part of their everyday lives.
