Global Action Plan is pleased to announce the appointment of Aisling McCaffrey as its new Chairperson.

With a distinguished career in the financial services sector, Ms McCaffrey brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the organisation. Her commitment to climate action and passion for environmental behaviour change aligns seamlessly with GAP Ireland’s goals and vision for the future

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Aisling McCaffrey as the new Chairperson at GAP Ireland. Aisling has a proven track record in the crucial areas of sustainability, finance and effecting social change, and her ethos of empowerment mirrors the aims and ambitions of our charity,” said outgoing GAP Ireland Chairperson Caoimhe Donnelly.

“GAP Ireland is going through a period of rapid expansion, at a time when more and more people around Ireland are recognising the urgency of informed climate action and the need to take action. GAP uniquely brings communities and business together to be a positive force of change. I have no doubt that Aisling’s professional acumen, integrity and vision will ensure that the charity continues to help people unlock their potential to contribute to a better world.”

The incoming Chair Aisling McCaffrey expressed her thanks to the members of the Board of Global Action Plan, saying:

“I am proud to serve on the Board of GAP Ireland, and grateful to have been tasked with leading the organisation as Chair of the Board of Directors. I look forward to working with the Board and the talented staff team to realise our vision of enabling people to take action and support a better future for our planet and for the people that depend on it.”

Ms. McCaffrey succeeds Caoimhe Donnelly, who served 3 years as Chairperson and played a pivotal role in the transformation of GAP Ireland.

In that period, the organisation has undergone a remarkable transformation, doubling the number of events it organises yearly, more than tripling the number of people it reached, and doubling its income.

Guided by the new Strategic Plan, adopted in 2023, GAP Ireland has brought its unique blend of social inclusion, environmental education and climate action to an ever growing number of people: In 2023, it recorded over 13,000 engagements, at almost 600 events.

Before Covid, GAP worked in 6 different Counties, whereas in 2023 its activities covered 16 Counties.
