Discover the power of GAP’s Climate Competitions
The 2025 Funds Industry Climate Challenge has wrapped up with inspiring results, once again highlighting the potential of GAP’s Climate Competitions to engage, educate and empower employees to take meaningful climate action.
The annual Funds Industry Climate Challenge invites companies in the Irish funds sector to go head-to-head in a sustainability challenge, and the outcomes show why this model works: Over two weeks, participants logged 11,934 climate-smart actions, resulting in an impressive 11 tonnes of CO₂e saved: the equivalent of flying 45,952 km or circling the globe more than once.
The small, everyday lifestyle choices that participants made added up to a significant collective impact. If replicated nationwide, their actions would have reduced Ireland’s consumer-related carbon footprint by 33%.

The Climate Competition transforms sustainability from an abstract concept into something practical, fun, and highly engaging.
GAP’s climate competitions simplifies climate action, making it easier for individuals to understand their personal impact, and how to reduce it. Through friendly inter-company competition, it also drives collective awareness and motivation at scale.
Why it works:
The Climate Competition brings sustainability into the workplace in a way that feels achievable. Actions like cycling to work, reducing food waste, choosing plant-based meals, or avoiding unnecessary purchases are logged daily, allowing teams to track their progress and see their impact in real time.
But it’s not just about points. This model supports companies in their climate ambitions by mobilising employees, building awareness, and fostering lasting behavioural change.
The Climate Competition is a powerful tool for team building, knowledge improvement and sustainability training, all wrapped in a format that people actually enjoy.
The success of the Funds Industry Climate Challenge shows how effective this approach can be within a single sector. Now, the invitation is open to others: any company, in any industry, can join a Climate Competition, and see what’s possible when their people are part of the solution.
