Around thirty years ago, the United Nations (UN) thought that measuring people’s lives shouldn’t be done by counting how much money they earned. So they developed the Human Development Index (HDI).

When we compare countries based on the HDI criteria, we can see that there can be huge differences. Bangladesh is a country that has had many floods and storms that are getting worse due to climate change. When we compare Bangladesh and Ireland we can see that there are a lot of differences.
