Resource Packs

The GAP ‘Learning for life’ Schools Resource pack consists of a 8 week environmental learning programme for primary schools. The pack is an easy to use comprehensive learning guide to current environmental problems. Each week covers a different environmental topic and provides, activities, lesson plans and resources.

‘Learning for life’ Programme

The GAP Schools Pack has evolved from the ‘Learning for life’ programme. This has has been run with over 800 students in more than 20 primary schools in the Dublin region since it’s conception in 2004.

Each topic comes with 2 detailed lesson plans, fact sheets and resources. Each lesson plan gives detailed information on curriculum links, learning outcomes and other information.

These topics can be covered in sequence according to the GAP Pack’s 8 week course. Alternatively, you can choose individual lessons to do at specific times to tie in with other school events and issues.

The main aim of the ‘Learning for life’ programme is to empower young people to become active citizens in their locality, caring for the social, economic and environmental landscape of their community.

GAP schools certificate

All students that participate and complete all sections in the ‘Learning for life’ programme will receive a certificate. Simply contact the GAP office on completion of the course and GAP will issue certificates for each member of your class.

Curriculum links

The GAP schools programme, as well as encouraging and increasing the school community’s awareness of environmental and social sustainability, aims to connect as much as possible with the new primary curriculum. The course is strongly linked with the SESE geography and science curriculum. In addition to this there are cross curricular links to history, arts and maths.

Each lesson plan has individual links with the school curriculum. Specific learning outcomes for each topic and activity are outlined in each individual lesson plans.
