Environmental Champions
The Environmental Champions project is aimed at young adults aged between 16 – 25 years, a group which is traditionally hard to engage in social and environmental activities. This project has run successfully for a number of years with over 80 participants having taken part. The projects change on a yearly basis, but the main theme of sustainable living is present throughout. Participants look at issues such as: waste, water, energy, transport, conscious consumer, natural environment, and healthy living.
One of the participating groups in this year’s Environmental Champions have conducted a clean up project in the garden of an after-schools project in Ballymun. Balcurris Aisling project as well as installing a new raised bed in the garden. The team consisted of nine youths from the Invest to Save Project, run by the Ballymun Job Centre. The group have also made a video about their work which is currently available in our video gallery.
