ACTION ON GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP TEACHER TOOLKIT
Action on Global Citizenship is GAP’s BRAND NEW Teacher Toolkit containing 8 chapters including Sustainable Development and Global Justice, with 24 of our favourite activities fully-planned and resourced.
As it was launched in Spring 2017, you can still be one of the first CSPE/Dev Ed teachers nationwide to receive this resource this academic year. As a result, your pupils will be one of the first classes to incorporate global citizenship into their coursework. The resource supports educators to confidently explore Dev Ed issues through an environmental education perspective.

CURRICULUM INFORMATION – CPSE / Dev Ed / Global Citizenship:
Action on Global Citizenship was developed in line with the following documents from the Department of Education & Skills and the National Council for Curriculum & Assessment:
- Key Skills of Junior Cycle (2014)
- Framework for Junior Cycle (2015)
- Draft Guidelines on Wellbeing in Junior Cycle (April 2016)
- CSPE Specification for Junior Cycle Short Course (June 2016)
In Strand 2 of the new CSPE Short Course, Global Citizenship, students explore issues of poverty, inequality & sustainable development and look at ways to bring about effective change. As a result, this resource addresses all 12 Learning Outcomes of this strand.
GAP’s fantastic new resource was developed with the help of teachers and industry experts. Teachers were integral in design consultation in October 2016, as well as testing and piloting of activities in January 2017. As a result, the teacher toolkit has clear learning outcomes and strong cross-curricular links with English, Geography, Business Studies, Science and many more. Aside from that, activities will also be of use to TY Coordinators in planning TY units / action-oriented projects, in addition to the Senior Cycle subject Politics and Society.
At GAP we believe that it is crucial that young people become champions of the SDGs! The goal of this resource, Action on Global Citizenship, is to support educators in leading global citizenship, enabling students to grow more skilled in evaluating the ethics and impact of their decisions.
