Community Gardener Position

Key Responsibilities

GAP’s Garden Programme aims to support local residents in Ballymun to enhance their own gardens as well as open communal spaces. GAP offers various activities under this programme including the Home Gardening Programme, Community Gardening Programme and Garden Events. The Community Gardener will support the delivery of GAP’s Gardening programme in Ballymun

The Community Gardener should have

  • At least 3 years experience of in a similar role plus a relevant horticultural qualification
  • Knowledge of environmental issues

The contract will be for 24 weeks. The post will be 28 hours per week but a degree of flexibility of working hours around evenings and weekends will be expected.

This is a fixed term contract-salary dependent on experience and qualifications.

Project Co-ordinator

Purpose

GAP’s Community Environmental Programme offers a variety of activities and initiatives, which engages local residents to take action in their own locality and improve their own neighbourhood. The focus of this programme is to empower and support residents to engage with local initiatives such as Tidy Towns and Fairtrade and to progress to positive community involvement and leadership.

The Project Coordinator will work with local groups, residents and resource centres in order to raise the profile of environmental issues and to assist residents in contributing to achieving positive environmental actions.

The Project Co-ordinator should have

  • At least 3 years work experience in a similar role plus a relevant Environmental/Education or relevant third level qualification
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of environmental issues/sustainable development.

This is a fixed‐term contract renewable subject to funding. Salary will reflect experience and qualifications. The post will be 35 hours per week but a degree of flexibility in working hours around evenings and weekends will be expected. The post will be subject to a probationary period.
